The Super Falcons’ camp in Sevilla for the 2024 Paris Olympics is gaining momentum with Jennifer Echegini’s recent arrival in Spain. As reported by Nigeria Football, 10 players are currently preparing for the upcoming tournament. Echegini, the former Juventus midfielder and American-born Nigeria international, joined the team on Saturday afternoon.
The squad’s preparations continue with 12 players yet to arrive, including Chiwendu Ihezuo and Asisat Oshoala, ahead of an international friendly against Canada on July 17. Captain Rasheedat Ajibade and midfielder Christy Ucheibe were among the first eight players to reach Spain from Nigeria on Friday morning.
Coach Randy Waldrum faces challenges due to Halimatu Ayinde’s injury, with plans to select a replacement from Ifeoma Onumonu, Gift Monday, Morufa Ademola, or Jumoke Alani.
After a 16-year absence from the Olympics football event, Nigeria finds itself in Group C alongside Spain, Brazil, and Japan. Their campaign begins against Brazil on July 25, followed by matches against Spain three days later and Japan on July 31.
