At the ongoing National Youth Games in Asaba 2024, Cross River State has reason to celebrate as God’sMind ETENG clinched the gold medal in the 1500 meters athletics event. This victory marks a significant achievement for the young athlete, who has demonstrated exceptional talent and dedication in her sport.
In an exclusive interview with our correspondent, Mr. Ettah Emmanuel, ETENG expressed her gratitude for this remarkable accomplishment. She thanked God for guiding her to success and credited her victory to the unwavering support of key figures in Cross River State. God’sMind Eteng extended her thanks to His Excellency, Sen. Prince Bassey Otu, the Executive Governor of Cross River State, for his commitment to supporting the state’s athletes. She also acknowledged the crucial contributions of Hon. Agnes Atsu, the Honorable Commissioner of Sports, SA, Mr Ekanem Ekpenyong, SSA Mr Lawrence Etta, Mr. Moses Agbor, the Director of Sports. Mr Samuel Egbala, the Permanent secretary.
ETENG’s appreciation also went to her coaches, the management of the Ministry of Sports, Cross River state sports commission and the dedicated staff and athletes who have been part of her journey. Her win not only brings pride to Cross River State but also highlights the potential of its young athletes on a national platform.
