ROVERS FC TRIUMPHS 3-1 OVER CALABAR PRIVATE CLUBS BEST 11 IN EXCITING NOVELTY MATCH IN CALABAR

As Rovers Football Club, Calabar prepares for the eagerly awaited Nigeria National League 2024/25 season starting in November, the team has demonstrated impressive readiness with a recent victory in a novelty match against Calabar selected Best 11 team. Held at the iconic Hope Waddell, this clash provided a vital opportunity for the coaching staff to evaluate their squad ahead of the competitive season.
The match ended with Rovers FC securing a convincing 3-1 win, largely thanks to the outstanding performance of Omolabi Owolabi, who scored two goals in the first half, setting the tone for the game. Utibe Arit contributed another goal, further establishing Rovers’ dominance on the pitch.
Despite Calabar Selected 11’s spirited efforts, they managed only one goal, scored by Okon Joseph. This match underscored Rovers FC’s commitment to integrating new talent and strengthening their lineup as they prepare for the challenges ahead.
Rovers Manager Mr. Esu, highlighted the significance of these novelty matches in refining team dynamics and in scouting potential players.
He was of the strong opinion that with such promising start, and the impressive records recorded by the team during these trial periods, Rovers FC is poised to make a substantial impact in the upcoming season.
