The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Development Amb. Dr. Julius Kijuo has been honoured with Academic and Selfless service Award by the University of Calabar department of Continue Education Development Studies Alumni, the event which saw top academic Class , Politicians and Business men was first of it kind as Andragogies Conveyed at the Senate Chambers of the University to Celebrate those who has positively impacted to the academic world and the Society at large.
The Award which was presented by Prof C.K Essien on behalf of Alumni which includes Professors , Doctors Non teaching Staff and Students was surrounded with great testimonies on Dr. Kijuo unwavering commitment to community development and public service, the young academic Doctor who holds a Philosophy degree in Community Development from the University of Calabar, along with a Master’s degree in the same field and a Bachelor’s in Continuing Education and Development Studies (Education Economics) has practical projects executed during his days in the University.
Prof Assien took time to eulogies Dr. Kijuo outlining how Contributive he has been to the department, faculty and the University during and after his days as a Student, as his academic journey reflects a deep-seated passion for enhancing community well-being.
Dr. Kijuo is a man who gaines joy in affecting the lives of who ever comes his way including the part of supporting students,buying Jamb forms for Students, Support for School fees, of recent he donated #2.2Million Naira to students for his personal support for education. He was Awarded as the best faculty President in 2014 as he introduced the first electronic sign post in the University of Calabar.
Dr. Kijuo, proactive approach to public service has propelled him to notable heights, enabling him to address pressing youth development challenges in Cross River State. His work exemplifies the university’s mission to foster leaders who are not only well-educated but also socially responsible and committed to making a difference.
The Alumni Day Celebrations served as as platform for networking, mentorship, and inspiration, encouraging current students and graduates alike to pursue their dreams and contribute positively to society. As the University of Calabar looks ahead, it aims to continue nurturing talent and promoting a culture of service, innovation, and entrepreneurship among its alumni.
