GRASSROOTS SPORTS DEVELOPMENT TAKES CENTER STAGE AT THE 2024 SWEET PRINCE CUP.

The 2024 Sweet Prince Cup, a secondary school sports event sponsored by Senator William Jones, representing the Central Senatorial District, kicked off at the UJ Esuene Sports Stadium in Calabar.
The ceremonial opening was conducted by the Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey.
On her part, the Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon. Agnes Atsu, stressed the necessity of grassroots sports development to nurture young talents.
The Sponsor 2024 Sweet Prince Cup and Senator representing the Central Senatorial District of the State, Senator. Eteng Williams Jones emphasized that the importance of sports cannot be overstated. He highlighted the vital role that athletics play in youth development and community cohesion.
The Sweet Prince Cup 2024 coordinated by the Senior Special Adviser on Sports Development, Hon. Ekanem Ekpenyong, who expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to oversee the tournament, aimed at reaching out to rural areas through sporting activities.
The event concluded with with GOVISCO (Ikom) defeating Purity Foundation (Biase) with a score of 2-1.
The 2024 Sweet Prince Cup for Secondary Schools featured a presentation of awards to the State Governor, Sen. Bassey Otu, add well as the Commissioner for Sports Development, the Commissioner for Education, medals for deserving winners, among others.
