WWFNCRS Condemns the recent Burning of Public Institutions in Ogoja Local Government Area

Press Statement

The Who Is Who Forum of Northern Cross River State (WWFNCR) strongly condemns the recent series of attacks on public institutions in the state, with the setting ablaze of the entire High Court of Justice complex, Ogoja Division and the devastating arsonist attack of the Ishibori Market all in Ogoja LGA of Cross River State.
These heinous acts are a direct assault on the peace, development, and unity of our community.

As a forum committed to fostering the progress and prosperity of the good people of Northern Cross River state in particular and across River and Nigeria in general, we are deeply saddened by these tragic events, which not only destroy critical infrastructures but also destabilized the livelihoods of countless citizens. The burning of Ishibori Market has left families without means of sustenance, while the destruction of the Ogoja High Court complex undermines access to justice and the rule of law.

Yet still, the inferno at the Model Secondly School, Okpoma, Yala LGA, CRS, Dorbar Systems.

These actions are unacceptable and do not reflect the values and culture of the people of Ogoja and Northern Cross River State as a whole. We call on all stakeholders, including community leaders, security agencies, and government authorities, to work collaboratively to restore peace and ensure the perpetrators of these heinous crimes are brought to justice.

WWFNCR urges our people to remain calm and vigilant during this challenging time.

We must reject all forms of violence and criminality and embrace dialogue and collaboration to address grievances when they arise and foster development.

We also appeal to the government to expedite efforts in rebuilding the affected infrastructures and support those who have been impacted. It is imperative that we stand united as a community to prevent further occurrences of such acts and promote a culture of peace and mutual respect.
And continue to be our brothers keeper.

Northern Cross River is known for its resilience and communal spirit. Let us come together to heal, rebuild, and uphold the principles of justice, equity, and progress for which we stand.

We would be watching with keen interest as development unfolds.
